While there are certainly political and social elements to the game which you will need to keep track of, you cannot expect to survive forever without going to war with someone, so you should be prepared for this from the beginning.

While planets are the life blood of your empire and the measure of your success , ships are the tools by which you acquire and protect those planets.The easiest planets to settle are the closest, which means the other planets that are part of your solar system. However, although these four planets are the closest, you will soon need to find more planets further afield. The planets in your home system are very unlikely to get settled by other players within the first 30 or so turns, so rather than send out first settler to one of the nearby planets we will start it on the long journey to a neighbouring star and use other ships to settle the nearby planets.While it is not advisable to get involved in any major conflicts early in an arena, it is a good idea to conquer any suitable targets near your home system, such as in actives or very small weak empires.
